Hello all, after a long time I've finally got a bay window camper. I may have a problem with the side door though - when I close it the clasp mechanism on the door (not the handle end its the other end) doesn't seem to corectly latch onto the part that is attached to the van. The lock works but even when locked from the inside I can open the door by pushing near the clasp end of the door with a little bit of pressure (but not much pressure at all). Silly question perhaps but is this normal and/or is there any other advice about it you can give please? I would really appreciate any thoughts.

Is the clasp end connected to the handle. There's a tie rod going through the door to connect it. If the door is slammed the clasp usually engages but other times when the door is closed you have to lift the handle to engage the clasp. On my 69 anyway.

Where you located ?

The clasp is attached to the handle and if I move the handle to the up position I can see the clasp grabbing the bracket but only stays near full closed position if I keep it in that position with my hand. Once I let go it barely latches onto the bracket. I'm in Consett.

sounds like the clasp is not travelling around enough to click/lock. mine's a pig and needs a heave on the handle to lock it in to the point it feels like its going to snap something. That's why i prefer a good slam. A new or ill fitting seal could be stopping it closing properly or the pin on the van body needs adjusting.
