I thought i'd show you what i'm working on and hopefully will be driving sometime soon. It's a 1972 Beetle that i bought from a lad at Red Row (near Amble). Initially, it appeared to want some work on the floors and replacement wings but as always it ends up being a whole load more. It had been standing for quite some time but I still was able to drive it back to Cramlington.

After replacing all the backing plates for decent used ones and new brake shoes, cylinders and springs the front clip came off



this is my first attempt at doing anything this big and boy was I crapping myself when cutting the clip off

I tried the new parts up to see how they looked

My first go at welding has started

then for the finishing touches - in case you hadn't guessed, I don't intend showing this car I want a solid reliable daily driver

not bad for youre first welding attempt, iv seen a lot worse when teaching the young`un at work lol, wunder how bad mines giong to be when i get it to the garage

dude....are you keeping that beam on ?

bit late now, but i would have been really tempted to give is a good seeing too with wire brush and a lick of paint while the clip was off and you could get to it easily

Got all the holes welded up

Then attention turned to the rear end

Cheers mate - like most people doing this kind of thing, it sometimes feels like it'll take forever to finish. Never mind, we'll keep plodding on
