This is mt little Teardrop. Finally started to metal clad the sides, as had just painted in a hurry as needed it ready for a France trip. Still lookingfor a pre 67 tow bar if any one has one tucked away at the back of the shed from when they fitted that Fat exhaust.

Working off some old 1950's plans and trying to keep it looking like it was built back then rather than a new build but wonder if I've shot myself in the foot a bit. Old parts way a ton like the running gear from a MK1 Transit and the old tow hitch is really heavy! Originally built it to tow behind the T4 so wasn't bothered about weight but if I did it again I'd use cheap and nasty, but light, modern parts. Reckon I could have halfed the weight. On the plus side building it to look old means I can be a bit slapdash with the hammer when shaping the alloy and stuff which is good fun.

If anyone does decide to build one, I'd deffinately build in the opening rear kitchen as it was excellent, hardly used the one in the van on the last holiday.

Found a company still making early tow bars so if I can't find an original at least I have a plan B so should be able to drag it out behind the Bug before long.

Got a side skimmed in metal now, and I think it looks much better. Need to get the other side done now and see if it's gonna polish up. In keeping with my desire to make it look older than it is I've been using reclaimed metals so don't even know what the sides are made of so lets hope it polish's or I'll just have to spray them.

Also took the opportunity to delete one of the side doors. Seemed a good idea at the time to have one on each side but after using it I realised the second was superflous and created more problems than it solved.
