Well, been a month since I put it on the road and decided to enjoy it for a bit.

The good points:
Ironed out some of the kinks
No more starting issues
Performed well
Fun to drive
Been on a couple runs out
Tynemouth was fun with it
Dad has vastly improved the paint on the bonnet

The not so good points:

Camber issues
New tyres
Need to repaint frame head
Hole in fuel tank
One or two other maintenance things to do
More coats of paint on certain panels required

Photos from the last month:

Tynemouth:

Cumbria/Northumberland border at Nenthead:

Edge of Wark forest:

Damned fuel tank hole:

New shiny bits bolted to the front.

Looking good Ian. You're in the best place with it now though, rolling and fixing as you go along :-)

Very pleased with the t bars. They fit the minimalist style of the car.

It is nice to have the car to run around with. Still have a list of things to do.

I was hoping to have a gallery of nice pics of the bug as it is now. Dad has been painting the inside, little bit more needed but nearly there. Photos to follow.

Took engine out to change exhaust. Ok until rain on Sunday. Finished last night, changed 3 spark plugs, 4th the thread is damaged. So waiting for a repair tool. So not finished yet.

Making a list of things to do when car comes comes out of storage next year. White wheels, new door window seals, replacement wiper mechanism, new fuel tank, new door cards, sound deadening, possible stereo. I will save me pennies up!

Ok, this is the last update for a while, since the car is going to be put in storage over the winter.

Interior is painted. Needs more coats. Will look nice when it's done.

Did try to waxoyl the car this weekend, but it wasn't the most successful of endeavours. Because I used the waxoyl starter kit powered by a bicycle pump type thing. The spray worked but the injection nozzle didn't.

Worst selfie ever! But have spotted the start of rust on the random hubcaps that came with the car. Perhaps I should get new wheels rather than work on those I have.

Hi Ian, looking good. I had the same type of problem with Waxol when I did my Karmann Ghia.I solved the problem by putting the waxol canister complete with pipe and trigger in a metal bucket of water and heating the water until nearly boiling over a camping stove. Problem solved the waxol came out of the nozzle and I got a good coating all over and it was thin enough to run and get into places like behind the dash panel and into the doors. Looking forward to seeing on the road next year. I'm an ex Northumberland chap myself, where in the wildest Northumberland are you from.

Little village between hexham and haltwhistle. Near the little chef on the A69.

Dad decided to try thinning it, after using the bucket of warm water. Half ended up on the drive and the rest is either on the drive or on the car or sharing a can with white spirits. Think I will give it a go with an air compressor at some point.

Went to visit the bug today...

Might need to clean it when I remove it. Damned thing turned over but wouldn't start. Might try again next month with the spitfire battery and fresh fuel...

Good news is nothing has gone south on it, and theres nothing to add to the job list.
